Recently made the move across the ditch to the birthing ground of triple J, the home of some of thee most talented artists/musicians and the unworldly festival line-ups. I’ve been here for 3 weeks and within the first few days I arrived I was desperate to get to a gig and first Aussie hosted festival.
I was lucky enough to get to see Shag Rock play alongside Albion Place in my home-venue Totara St. From the sharing of my playlists containing mostly NZ’s best, I found myself photographing Shag Rock’s Sydney gig on their headlining Old School Lover tour.

The Brissy based band of 4 have been creating ‘Deep Froth’ moments since 2015 when they released their debut, self-titled album Shag Rock. Since then they’ve released their album Barefoot, two banging singles-Fuzzy connection and Double Life in 2018 and most recently their single Old School Lover. All while doing multiple international tours and one, of course, being their Bridge the Ditch tour crossing over to beautiful New Zealand for the last legs of their tour with Albion Place. And I couldn’t think of a more ideal tour name. As well, touring their home country-Australia, doing both headlining tours and playing alongside some other talented Australian names. Shag Rock ‘Bring the Rain’ of indie vibes and creamy pop that make you ‘loosen up’, the feeling even good quality ‘Champagne’ can’t create. These tunes are ideal for any moment, from jamming in the car to unwinding after a long day.

Shag Rocks Sydney gig really made me fall back in awe with not only this music genre but also just Shag Rock’s tunes in general. A epic location, upstairs in a moody loft-The Landsdown. With the dedicated fans enjoying the Sunday evening, despite the likeliness of having to work off the hangover.
Also had the good ol Speights shirt worn by….. NZ represent.

So blessed to be in Australia and around the Australian music culture. And even more blessed to have had been able to photograph this incredible crew. They still have a few more shows left on their Old School Lover tour, so look out for a show near you and go share some funky energies.
Preash and Love,
Felicity x
